Obtaining civil partnership certificates
How to apply and pay
Online
at present civil partnership certificates cannot be ordered online
How to Apply for a certificate, including overseas certificates
By telephone
- we accept Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Solo, Visa Debit or Maestro. Please call +44 (0)845 603 7788 and have the details of both partners and the date and place where the partnership was registered to hand
- our lines are open:
Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm
Saturday 9am – 4pm - please also have your credit or debit card ready

By post / fax
- when completing these forms, you need to supply the details of both partners and the date and place of where the partnership was registered

Payments by credit or debit card
- Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Solo, Visa Debit or Maestro are all accepted. Please don't forget to include your credit or debit card number and the three-digit security code on the rear of your card.
Payments by cheque
- make cheques and postal orders payable to 'IPS' (Identity and Passport Service).
Payments from abroad
- an international money order, cheque or draft (payable in London) made out to ‘IPS’ (Identity and Passport Service) and expressed in pounds sterling, quoting a UK clearing bank are accepted

In person at your local registration authority
- you will be asked to complete an application form providing details of both partners and the date and place where the partnership was registered
- for a certificate with addresses you need to supply the full addresses of both partners as at the time they registered the partnership
- if you can't supply both full addresses but can still identify the record you can be supplied with a certificate which will not contain the partner’s addresses
- you can pay by cash, cheque, debit or credit card
