Certificate orders to support a British passport application If ordering a certificate to support a British passport application, the General Register Office can send this directly to His Majesty’s Passport Office.
To do this, when asked for the address you want the certificate sent to, you must provide the application reference number (usually beginning PEX) followed by the full postal address exactly as provided by HM Passport Office.
HM Passport Office will link the certificate to your passport application using the application reference number, so please ensure that this is provided accurately. It may take several days for your passport application to be updated following HM Passport Office receiving the certificate (typically within three working days of receipt).
